Cheap and Chic

Which is your favorite cheap and chic chain store?  Zara (Spain), H&M (Sweden), Forever 21 (USA), Uniglo (Japan)  and Topshop (UK), newest on the block, are all known for their inexpensive and fashionable clothing for women, men and kids.  Business wise, I wonder which makes more profit, one of these chains or high end boutique chains with designer names.

H&M made an awesome marketing move when they collaborated with major designers and celebrity such as Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Roberto Cavalli and Kylie Minogue.  It brought an even wider range of clientele.   Other rivals are catching on and also doing the same.  Topshop added Kate Moss to their collection.  I heard it sold fast last year in London.  I alos hear Zara restocks and get new items twice a week.  It’s amazing the variety of choices we have.  Fashion is no longer the same as it used to be.  People mix and match high end with lower ends items.  Even high end designers are coming out with collections for the masses (so you and I can afford it).  You can find them in department store and some also in Target stores and such.  The only problem shopping at these shops is looking for your right size.  Each store size measurement and fits may varied widly, 00 -  46.  Sometimes a sweater and a blouse from the same store can be challenging as well.

One of the great things about living in NY is that this city is so fashion foward and we get access to so many designs first.  If they are not in your town, no worries, most of the designers have online shops or collaborate with other well known shops and can ship worldwide.

I can’t wait to start shopping for spring and summer!
